When to use Hinglish

Roman script reaches viewers who understand spoken Hindi but read Devanagari slowly, and it handles Hindi mixed with English without switching alphabets. Devanagari is clearer for pure Hindi and formal content. Our guide, Hinglish vs Devanagari captions, explains how to choose and how to test both.

Questions

What is Hinglish?

Here, Hindi written in English (Roman) letters, the way most people type it on their phones: "main theek hoon" instead of "मैं ठीक हूँ". The word is also used for speech that mixes Hindi and English.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, and the text you type never leaves your device.

How accurate is it?

It follows the rules of Hindi pronunciation, such as dropping the silent "a" at the end of words (कमल → kamal) and between syllables (समझना → samajhna), and writes common words the way most people spell them. Hinglish has no standard spelling, and names and English words written in Devanagari can come out differently from how you'd write them, so read the result before you use it.

Does it work for Marathi?

Marathi uses the same Devanagari script, so most text converts, but the rules are tuned for Hindi pronunciation.

Can I get Hinglish captions for my videos automatically?

Yes. In TheMomentra, choose Roman script when you upload a Hindi or Marathi video. The speech is transcribed and romanized, you check the transcript, and every clip gets word-timed Hinglish captions.
